Keeping Your Podcast Audience Engaged

Keeping Your Podcast Audience Engaged

As you grow your podcasting audience, you are also growing your business base. Even if you do not have products or services to offer, you should be looking to monetize your podcast. This could be through sponsorships, paid ads (people who pay you to promote their products or services) or through affiliate relationships.

I’ve share some concepts you can use in moving your listeners to the point of signing up to your email list to receive some product of perceived value from you. The main way of doing that is to be continuously engaging with your audience.

As you design you lead magnet (or initial product offer), you need to map out the journey you want your listener to take with you. I’m not just talking about a mental note of the path you want them to take. You need to physically write down the process. Not for them but for you!

You need to cover all the points in your offer.

But you cannot know what those points are unless they are all written down!

Take five to ten minutes and just list out the important points you want to bring to your potential listener-list member to know. Usually, a list of 10-12 ideas in headline format would be sufficient.

Now this is where you get to work!

Choose the top five points that you would like to make sure your listeners know about. Take these five items and create a survey. Send this survey out to your existing clients or list members. Put the survey on your website, your podcast site and on your social media. Ask these people to choose their favorite topic.

Take the top two items and include them as individual items on your lead magnet. You will, in effect, create two different lead magnets. One item on each.

You should then run each individual offer on your website. Send the first offer out to your list. Put it out there on social media. Mention it on your podcast. Run this for about two weeks.

Then, use the second lead magnet and do the same thing. Run this for two weeks.

Evaluate the results.

Choose the one that generated the most positive responses.

You now can split test the most popular offer by redesigning your lead magnet. Change only one thing. It could be the color. It could the font. It could be a picture or graphic. But make sure you are only changing one thing.

Then, run the promotion again. See what generates the most positive results.

By doing this over the course of a couple months, only changing one thing at a time, you will end up with a lead magnet that is pleasing to your audience and generating enough interest that your specific avatar is engaging with your lead magnet.

This will ultimately increase the relationship level you will have with your listeners and increase the number of listeners that become clients.
