We all know how hard it is to generate traffic to our blogs. Many of us are good writers, but what is the use of a good piece of writing when no one gets to see it? And the amazing things is that, no matter how good your content is, there are a 99% chances that nobody will read it unless you promote. Many of us are petty bloggers who do not have funds for paid Ads, but do you know that you can still generate traffic to your site legitimately?
No matter which niche you specify in, there are top rich brands that are paying thousands of dollars in social media ads, search engine marketing, and display ads. These top sites have numerous paid campaigns on Facebook to LinkedIn; their Ads are shown on Google search engine results' pages. Is there any possible way that you can compete with these people when you both target the same keywords? Absolute NO! So, what do we do?
Are you thinking social media share? Thinking Facebook? Have you read anywhere that organic reach is dead on Facebook? Mark Zuckerberg is all up in his room waiting for your payments so that he can put your contents in front of your target audiences. There is no more free traffic from there except you have got precious hundreds of dollars to spare. There are however many other social media platforms that you can use well and still convert a lot of traffic.
Below are other ways you can get free traffic to your blog:
1. Leverage the opportunities on StumbleUpon, Medium, Pinterest, Bloglovin, and Reddit: Have you signed up already on these platforms? Facebook organic traffic is dead. Twitter is now oversaturated. But these aforementioned platforms are still the bomb. On these sites, you can repost your blog contents on them with your blog or site link or the blog post permalink as a signature after the post. These platforms have mechanisms that can put your contents in front of thousands of people. On Reddit, you have to be mindful of the moderators' rules and regulations before you post. By leaving your link in posts you publish on these platforms, you stand the chance of converting readers who may want to see more of your works as your regular visitors.
2. Have you tried social bookmarking sites? Have you heard of social bookmarking sites like Viral Content Buzz (now Viral Content Bee - VCB) and JustRetweet? These are places where you can drop your blog post titles and links with a little introduction, and other various users of the same platforms through a point-gaining method gets to share your contents on their personal social media platforms. What this means is that you get free promotion to other writers and bloggers audiences. What could be better than that? JustRetweet only allows Digital Marketing/Blogging Tips/SEO and other related niches for now, but on VCB, there are many categories that cater for the likes of Health & Self-care tips, Safety tips, Celeb Showbiz Gossips, Entertainment News, World News, and much more. As the name suggests, your blog post could be the next viral content in few hours.
3. Why not just target low-search-volume keywords or long-tail keywords for SEO? We all know that keywords such as SEO or Health are so competitive and only people with a lot of money for marketing earn the top spot to rank for them. Long-tail keyword example in the case of SEO could be 'benefits of SEO to Small and medium scale enterprises'. These long keywords represent what search engine users are interested in. These long-tail keywords could be in form of queries that would mimic the intent of search engine users. Also, when you do keyword research, you do not have to settle for highly competitive keywords which have high search volumes. There are some keywords which have low search volume, and at the same time, low or zero competition. If you can build the habit of writing on a low search volume keywords per day, say for example, you have 500 articles with 500 keywords that only receive 200 searches per months, and you rank first for them. It is known that number one spot in SERPs get about 50% of traffic, so that means 100 page views per 1 keyword. This multiplied by your different 500 keywords, then you could have over 5,000 page views form search engine per month.
In conclusion: Brands are keying to the sides where the quote, 'spend money to get money' thrives. And if you have got no money like the top brands, then you stand no chance. So, we need to leverage all the other opportunities still available for free from other social media platforms to compete. Apply this method which surely works for me personally, and you would be smiling when it stars paying off.
